Café-Bistro
at Bauhaus

The café-bistro at the Bauhaus Dessau was born out of the idea of creating a lively meeting place for designers, students, and guests from all over the world. As early as the 1980s, there was a growing desire among those involved with the reopened Bauhaus for a place where people could meet outside of seminars and workshops. The chosen location in the basement, once part of the historic workshop and living areas, now connects the past and present in a special way. From the planned club, the space developed into an open meeting place for conversations, dining, and celebrations. Visitors not only enjoy culinary offerings here, but also a piece of the Bauhaus atmosphere—characterized by clear forms, functional design, and international exchange. During parties, concerts, and exhibitions, the café becomes a communication center and a stage for creative minds. The interior, designed by employees of the foundation, and the view of the UNESCO World Heritage Site make it a place full of character, where history remains alive and new things can unfold at the same time.
